Not only am I working on my own ballet/bird project but I am doing a collaboration with some other students and we had a meeting today to discuss everything. So it fits in with all of our different projects it is based on birds - it will help even more in the decision making of my costumes and develop my making skills.

It All Helps

Had a great tutorial today, it was really helpful and has brought me back down to earth in terms of the way I am thinking about everything. Admittedly my head blew a gasket, so the rest of the day was spent making lists so I could let my mind breathe a little!

I also printed and bound little booklets about the shoots I have been doing and been helping with ... The photo shoots I have done of my own work have been very useful when it has come to making decisions on how to do the costumes for my ballet - working out what I do and do not want - and the shoots/films I have been dressing and assisting on have been just as important - in that it is what I want to to when I leave uni and has been developing my experience in the field.

How We Think

Today’s Drawing Workshop was on how to think differently about our drawings and how we approach them. It was really fun and interesting to try out the different ways of drawing ie - with a metre long stick, rulers etc, and to think about how we go about our ideas in different ways.

A day spent trying to sort out the music for my production ... I think I have to give in and ask for help! While listening to hours of Tchaikovsky I made lots more lists and organised my next few weeks. I have to say I am rather looking forward to the drawing workshop tomorrow!

Stitch Your Skin

Today I was helping with Nina's 'Stitch Your Skin' film. Pasteing her in PVA glue and filming while she stitching into her self. Stopping to take photographs as well, it was a fun project to assist on.

Our last day in Leipzig. We did lots of walking - taking in even more of the sights (and noticing details of the ones we had seen already) we did a "mini-shoot" near the Leipzig ballet house - sadly they had no productions on when we were there :( ! I don't really think the shoot worked as it was busy, cold and , well, I'm no ballet dancer or model! but we did have fun doing it! Today we also found ourselves wondering around the insides of the famous Bach Church which was beautiful!

Leipzig

The buildings are so beautiful and grand in Leipzig - and rather surreal at the same time. There were so many of the wonderful buildings all in one place....and the churches were fantastic too. But, being third years we knew we could not completely take our feet off the peddle so we sat in various cafes and drew, made plans for the next few weeks and managed (or at least attempted) to gather our thoughts a little.

On A Whim

A few months ago, my friend and I decided we needed a wee break from all the hectic work going on, so we decided to book a cheap flight anywhere ... leading us to Leipzig, Germany. Neither of us speak German (I took it for all of a year at school) but this made it even more of an adventure.
First impressions were very exciting when we arrived late at night and our lovely hostel was an added bonus.

Admittedly I didn't get terribly much done today as it took all day to travel back from Paris but I did do some 30 second drawings without looking at the paper and a quick drawing on the plane before falling asleep …

We Feel Inspired

A very busy day today, we managed to fit in The Louvre, The Pompidou and Premiére Vision.

Last year we didn't have time to actually have a proper look around the Pompidou so it was really nice that we got to this year - we left feeling very inspired.

This was our first year exhibiting at Premiére Vision, which is very exciting! NUCA sold a few designs too which is even more exciting and it was good to see our stand in amongst the others at Indigo.

Birds At Notre Dame

Notre Dame is one of my favourite places in Paris, so I was very happy to do the shoot for these costumes there. Especially with all the birds around there too ... although unfortunately they were rather stubborn and would not fly away when running at them!
