A few weeks ago I went to the Christen Kobke exhibition in one of the galleries in Edinburgh. I didn’t really know what to expect as I hadn’t heard of him before, but I was so impressed. His attention to detail and his compositions are amazing. He is the first artist I have seen in a long time who manages to make his paintings look so realistic – almost like photographs, and I love his compositions. He put so much sky into his pieces that make them stand out that bit more, and makes them more interesting to look at. I also particularly liked his ‘Garden Gate’ but sadly I could not find a picture or postcard of it.
